Itay Machtei is a postdoctoral fellow with the Consortium on the American Political Economy based at Yale University. He received a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2025.He studies the distributive effects of state and market relations across both sides of the Atlantic and namely, the politics of inequality, social policy and privatization. His work combines both quantitative and historical analysis with survey experiments and has been published in the Journal of European Social Policy and Citizenship Studies.
