Paul Pierson

Paul Pierson is the John Gross Professor of Political Science at the University of California at Berkeley and Director of the Berkeley Center for the Study of American Democracy. Pierson is the author or coauthor of six books, including the New York Times bestseller Winner-Take-All Politics and Let Them Eat Tweets (written with Jacob S. Hacker), Politics in Time: History, Institutions, and Social Analysis, and Dismantling the Welfare State? Reagan, Thatcher, and the Politics of Retrenchment (Cambridge 1994). He is a member of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences.
